On September 29, commuters on Brussels’ ring road were greeted with an utterly unprecedented scene. The body of a young man was found hanging from a highway traffic sign along the busy thoroughfare.
The body hung there for hours. Passersby thought it might be a macabre Halloween prank, given the surreal display in broad daylight. But as police arrived and cordoned off the area, it became clear this was no prank.
